Lets get smarter together.
In case you don’t want to use the cover it live box here’s the text:
7:30
Sorry I’m late to this. Had connection problems
7:30
We just did something in worship that was something between the rhumba and square dancing
7:31
he just got 6 volunteers
7:32
hmm, there are 3 people with wind tags
7:32
3 “builders”? not sure yet what the deal is yet. They are going to tell a story and have them act it out. Ha.
7:35
They are getting their act on. Its pretty funny.
7:37
Woah, hurricane helga looks like molly shannon and acts like her too
7:41
“making sure we have a strong foundation”
7:42
The first foundation is Jesus and the second is your team.
7:42
Looks like team activity time
7:48
Wow this is tough. We are trying to figure out which of the 6 types of people types we identify with most. Pioneer, Architech, Project Manager, Engineer, Builder, Encourager
7:48
The idea is to see who you have on your team and what you are still missing. Really cool activity
7:51
this is really revealing actually and some real food for thought on what functions people on my team are doing
7:51
Kevin and I are actually having a really good discussion on what we do for the team
7:52
We are discussing that even though I need these roles filled for Childrens ministry overall, Kevin needs to eventually build these roles into his Childrens church team as well
7:54
he’s talking about “did anyone notice, ‘hey, we are all engineers’, that’s not good huh?” etc
7:55
Starting to talk about the “blueprint”
7:56
befriend – understanding and reaching out to children
7:56
he’s going over children archetypes
7:57
alex – child out of hope. girlfriend broke up with hiim on birthday. Is it worth getting up today?
7:58
He’s scared to get his hopes broken one more time. Alex needs a friend. Alex needs Jesus.
7:59
He is asking us to think of one kid who needs Jesus and write it down. Hmm, thinking about the alex’s in our Sunday School.
8:01
Now we are talking about the concept of “belong”
8:02
Archetype – Sheelpa – She feels different from kids in her community. can’t really read. kids make fun of her. She’s always there but never quite feels like she fits in. She wonders if she didn’t come next week if anyone would notice.
8:03
She may really be different because of language or culture or she just might feel different from everyone else on the inside
8:04
She usually isn’t from a different culture but feels like she is very different from the church culture
8:05
Now we are talking about “Believe”
8:07
Archetype Shayne – he comes with grandma and grandpa. Mom and dad don’t come. They wonder what will be the eventual outcome. What will shayne believe in the end.
8:09
Wow, answering the survey on what we think or “believe” answers are is very revealing. There is so much work that needs to be done.
8:10
Now talking about “Become” – how to transform kids from visitors to members to grow to deepen. to serve and lead.
8:11
Archetype – Catherine – been coming to church all her life. Been bored with church. Seems like same old same old. Started arguing about coming to church and not wanting to anymore. She has started to plug into a club that has really engaged her at school. If only she could get engaged in church like she is at school.
8:14
tip – the way to make people laugh is to make fun of them, but in general not specifically.
8:25
sooooo, mathematician kev says we are averaging about 14
8:28
woah, he just dared us to ask parents to fill out the blueprint assessment and even more scary to ask 5th and 6th graders to fill out the survey
8:30
Time to party with kid min peeps
8:35
party time
I am constantly trying to learn more and work smarter. The idea here is to share what I find along the way. Maybe you'll find some things here that will help you too. The main areas of my curiosity are technology, leadership, business and working with children. I hope you like what you find.
